Tom lives near Geneva, in France. He studied communications and obtained a Master’s degree in Medical Anthropology from Lancaster University in the UK. He worked as a Senior Communication Consultant for multiple organisations including UNAIDS, WHO, UNFPA, USAID. Throughout his career he was struck by how often programmes were planned without sufficient evidence and organisations battled to gather the right information to advocate for causes. To fill this gap, he founded Lushomo.

Debbie is based in Cape Town, South Africa. She has diverse people management and organisational skills and, as the Lushomo office manager, takes care of organising, invoicing, planning meetings and keeping our schedules up to date.
Debbie loves numbers, and spending time with her family and camping in nature.
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Megan is responsible for coordinating operations across all projects and activities while growing and developing the business. Her professional background includes lab science, sustainable development, conservation and public health. Her Master’s degree focused on the strengthening of emergency care systems in low-resource environments.
Megan loves cross-disciplinary collaboration, rock-climbing, spreadsheets, and learning about different cultures, especially through food.
Lilli is based in Cape Town, South Africa. Her academic background spans the natural and social sciences, with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and MSc degrees in Environmental Sustainability and African Studies from the University of Edinburgh. Lilli joined Lushomo as a research intern in its very early days and now specialises in the management of complex and innovative accounts.
Lilli loves working with the Lushomo team, floating in the Indian Ocean (not the frigid Atlantic) and making babies laugh.
Brian is a graphic designer with a BTech in Graphic Design from the Cape University of Technology and is based in Cape Town, South Africa. He is experienced in branding and illustrating, packaging and publication design, and campaigns and activations. Inspired and influenced by his surroundings, Brian conceptualises and implements social innovations in the fields of business, cultural exchange, education, technology and sustainability.
Brian loves digital painting, music, podcasts and reading YouTube comments.
Millie brings a mix of skills to the Lushomo team with over half a decade of communications experience working across advertising and the Non-Profit sector. Millie has an undergraduate degree in Geography from Newcastle University and is currently studying her postgraduate degree at Stellenbosch University.
Millie loves spending her free time in the mountains trail running, or in the ocean, surfing.
Tania is based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa. She has a background bridging community development and cultural and creative industries. Tania has a BA Honours in Three Dimensional Design from Brighton University, and an MA in Development Studies from Nelson Mandela University. She is passionate about helping people better understand the world around them through creative problem solving.
Tania loves working with her hands, watching live music and cooking.
Eunice has a background in environmental health with a BTech from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Cape Town with a focus on children’s environmental health and environmental justice.
Eunice loves interacting with people from various background, learning new recipes, creating content for social media, blogging, and being outdoors in nature.
Claire is based in Cape Town, South Africa. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, First Class Honours, from the University of Auckland. She has worked as a Graphic Designer in a variety of contexts, ranging from information design to luxury retail brands and fast-moving consumer goods. Her passion, however, is in the areas of public health, development and the environment.
Claire loves producing great work, propagating indigenous plants and guerrilla gardening her neighbourhood.
Bianca is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has an MSc in Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is also a freelance graphic designer. This combination fuels her passion as a creative problem solver.
Bianca loves the lowveld, snakes, and carbs.
Helena is based in Stellenbosch, South Africa. She has a Master's degree in Political Science and, after her studies, spent time interning at various NGOs in the UK and the USA. She returned to South Africa in 2017 and gained experience in public relations, social media and project management.
Helena loves good food and wine, yoga and walking barefoot in the Kalahari sand.
Christine is an editorial assistant, with ten years of experience in print publication. She is based in Cape Town, South Africa and, as the Lushomo project assistant, takes care of project quality control and general admin and support for project managers.
Christine loves sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Justine lives in France, near Geneva. She is a scientist by training and an author, journalist, editor and creative strategist by profession. She has a BSc (Medical) Honours from the University of Cape Town and 12 years of experience as a health and science writer, editor and creative writing trainer. She’s currently at work on her second book, The Environmental Capitalist, and a new e-book and course called The Creative Freedom Technique.
Justine loves words, growing her own vegetables, flamenco dancing and podcasts.
Josh is based in Cape Town, South Africa. He received an MSc in Human Geography from Utrecht University after completing his BSocSci and Honours at UCT. His research has been centred around unpacking urban inequality, residential exclusion, municipal failure and political participation in the context of the developing world. He has a keen interest in development in the Global South and loves being part of the Lushomo team.

Erika is based in Pretoria, South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Visual Communication from Open Window, and has worked as a graphic designer for medical health apps. Her passion lies in exploring the communicative properties of illustration and design.
Erika loves illustrating, endlessly watching documentaries, and eating.
Sarah obtained an MSc in Global Health Policy from the University of Edinburgh after completing a BSc in interdisciplinary life sciences at Paris Descartes University. Prior to joining Lushomo, Sarah worked for different organisations in the development and interdisciplinary scientific fields, across different countries in Europe and abroad.
Sarah loves using science, communication and creativity for advancing human rights and wellbeing, photography, and promoting Italian cuisine abroad.
Emma is from Durban, South Africa. She holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and has extensive experience in communications and project management. She has worked largely in the NGO sector with a focus on community and public health, and sustainable development. Heading up general design at Lushomo, Emma is focused on streamlining processes and ensuring efficiencies in the system to get quality products back to the clients promptly.
Emma loves books, reading and reciting silly rhymes and enjoys going on outdoor adventures with her loud young family.
Daneil is based in Cape Town, South Africa. She has a PhD in the Life Sciences, with a broad range of interests from biochemistry and physiology, to exercise science and genetics. While doing her Masters and PhD research, Daneil realised the gap that exists in research translation. So she joined Lushomo to be part of a team working towards improving communication around current health and environmental issues.
Daneil loves cuddling puppies, jam-packed sandwich wraps and keeping fit and active.
Ruby is based in Durban, South Africa. She has a Masters degree in literature from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She has a passion for creating narratives and world-building with images and writing. She enjoys creative problem solving and graphic programming and has explored many different mediums for communication, including photography, coding and animation.
Ruby loves ballet and her pet tortoise.
Jeanne is from Lyon, France. She has a Masters degree in business management and a background in human resource management. She has previously been involved in HR communication management for the French Development Agency. Jeanne joined Lushomo to help with internal projects.
Jeanne loves hiking, boxing and travelling in Southern Africa.
Solène is from Reunion Island, France. She studied International Business in Europe as part of her Bachelors degree in Applied Languages, and specialised in project management with a Masters degree in humanitarian and cultural project management. She volunteered for a humanitarian organisation as part of her studies and was an intern at the French Institute of South Africa. She worked with politicians in France before moving back to South Africa and joining the Lushomo team.
Solène loves taking care of animals, photography, travelling and discovering new cultures.
Izzy Scalway is based in Barcelona, Spain. She holds a bachelor’s in Applied Languages from Oxford Brookes University and is currently undergoing a part-time masters in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. She actively volunteers in environmental youth-led organisations, working with young people to advocate for a green and just transition in light of the climate crisis. Izzy joined Lushomo as a Research and Communications intern and is now working full-time as a Junior account manager.
Izzy loves exploring the outdoors, either by foot or by bike, and is passionate about natural wine.
