The background

In 2016, the World Health Assembly (WHA) adopted resolution WHA69.4, entitled The role of the health sector in the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management towards the 2020 goal and beyond. The World Health Organization (WHO) developed a strategic approach to properly engage relevant sectors and government and non-governmental stakeholders. This approach was dubbed the Chemicals Road Map.

The brief

To create a visual identity for the Chemicals Road Map and a variety of communications products to facilitate meeting resolution WHA69.4 on the role of the health sector in the management of chemicals.

Our response

We developed a bold visual identity as well as a variety of user-friendly banners, and brochures which were translated into six different languages.

Visual identity
Lushomo first created strong branding for the Chemicals Road Map.

Brochures
This was applied to a brochure, and translated into six languages, to introduce and summarise the Chemicals Road Map. It was turned into a stakeholder workbook to ensure it would be used effectively. This involved Tom Scalway, Lushomo’s lead consultant, meeting with key stakeholders in Geneva to workshop the ways in which it would be used.

Workbook layout
‍‍
The workbook featured instructional guidelines on how stakeholders could respond to the road map. Tables from the workbook were recreated in MS Word and Excel which could be easily accessed and utilised.

Based on a draft report received from WHO-AFRO, as well as access to raw survey data, Lushomo produced a report with data visualisations and infographics to highlight country progress on implementing the Libreville Declaration. The report and the results that is showcased were used to inform deliberations at the conference, that led to the development of the new strategic action plan.
